Add/remove is gone

By using Microsofts updating my add/remove doesn't work anymore.

Also the list is gone. Can't find a restore point. Can I get it back?

You could try System File Checker. You need a Windows XP CD not just a
"recovery CD". Go to Start->Run and enter
SFC /SCANNOW
you will be prompted for the Windows XP CD. SFC will take about 20 minutes
to complete. It will not inform you of any corrupt or damaged files it has
found and replaced. When finished you should reboot.

If SFC doesn't help then you might need to do a Repair Install. This also
requires a Windows XP CD. You can follow the steps outlined in How to Run a
