Thanks Ashwin:

Actually, I posted my question from another computer that
was not on when the power went out. I tried the other one
after reading your reply and had no problems - I was
expecting it to do a scan something like Win 95 does - but
all seems normal.

you should execute chkdsk to see if everything is fine.
