I am having great difficulty installing winxp. I have a
KT400 m/b, XP 1800 chip, 512 333mhz ram, 40 gig maxtor HD,
Geforce 4 Ti 4200 video.
When I try to install XP I get the error code 0x4,0,0,0
and my PC shuts down. I get the same problem with Win2K
The PC works perfectly with 98se.
Last time I had a problem like this it was the video card.
I swapped in another one for the basic install and then
swapped the good one back and it worked perfectly. This
fix does not work this time.

Microsoft publishs information (find on web site) detailed information
about what hardware works with XP. Suggest you review that.

Reinstall 98SE, then while at the 98SE desktop, place the XP CD in the
drive. When the setup screen appears, select "Check System Compatibility."
This may give a clue as to the source of the issue.
