I am a novice at this and have read the help in windows media player which
says things like wmp 9 and above use ctrl i (eye0 to capture a frame, don't
use overlays, turn off hardware accelerator etc etc. However, even when
pausing my DVD I am totally unable to get a still picture which I can
hopefully save in jpeg to get a decent print of a shot from the DVD. Any
advice would be appreciated. Many thanks, bugsie.

If you have a DVD player...you should have
software like....Power DVD or InterVideo
WinDVD Recorder for example...these
programs have an option to do a screen
capture from DVD Video. Check the
documentation that came with your computer's
DVD player.
