Why is it that when I do a search for a document in XP I
get two of each resulting file found displayed in the
results window? That seems absurd and it's really
annoying!

Any help appreciated...

TIA

Maybe you have the file extensions "hidden", so that in fact these files
are indeed different, but with different extensions, e.g.

mydocument.doc
mydocument.bak

which show up as

mydocument
mydocument

Noticed the same thing. I traced at least one entry to the Recent folder
which puts shortcuts to EVERYTHING done on here ("C:\Documents and
Settings\Owner\Recent"). Go there and delete the reference to whatever file
it is; it's only a shortcut. Then do another Search and see if you get two
entries again. If two still come up, go to greater authority.
