please help im getting desperate after about 2 or 3 days
my pc decides to just stop when it restarts i get the
message that system file is missing or corrupted file
name is system32/config/system i then have to reinstall
xp every time this does not happen on my other pc which
is running the same system os

The file that's being referenced is the system hive. Literally that's the
HKLM\SYSTEM part of the registry. If it's being corrupted then you either
have some piece of software stomping on the registry or you have a serious
hardware problem. In the latter category the most likely problem is with
overclocking or memory problems, but nothing can really be ruled out.
You can start on hardware diagnostics by going to http://www.simmtester.com
and downloading DocMemory. It has to be run from diskette.
