View Full Version : "My Display Picture" not remembered

When I update "My Display Picture" with one of my own photos (to replace the
generic soccer ball , deck chair etc images) , and add a little "welcome"
message next to it, Windows Messenger displays it ok while it is running, but
when I exit Messenger and log back in, my personal image is gone and the
generic soccer ball image is back. As well the "welcome message" I set
disappears as well. Can anyone help in advising how I can fix this so it
remembers these settings. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Windows
Messenger v8, but to no avail.

Greetings Johann,

If you click the Tools menu (or press Alt-T), click Options, then Security tab, make sure
that 'This is a shared computer so don't store my address book, display picture, or personal
message on it' isn't selected as this will prevent these from being saved.

Hi Jonathon,
I checked and the tick box about not remembering display and personal
message settings is not checked, so no good there, although Messenger is
behaving as though it is checked. Have you got any other ideas? Perhaps a
registry key is not quite right here?

Thanks, Johann
