dial-up problems

After booting up my system, my computer automatically
dials up. After canceling this, it does it again within a
second or two after closing that window. It just keeps
dialing, over and over. I have gone under my internet
options/settings and selected the option of "never dial
up a connection". Apparently, my computer is caught in a
vicious cycle of dialing up. Very annoying. Can someone
out there help me?
