I upgraded my computer from windows 2000 to windows XP.

Now the computer runs slower. I do many administrator
work on this computer too.

I know if I did a fresh installation it would be faster.
But for many softwares are installed on this computer, so
I did an upgrade.

I ran the disk disfragment too. And applied all new
service pack and patches. It still runs slow.
FOr example when I click start all program, it will take
30 seconds to load the menu.
Whenever I open a folder even locally, it will take half
seconds to open.

How can I improve the speed and performamce?
This did affect my work a lot.

Have you tried any good registry cleaner utilities?

RegCleaner from http://www.jv16.org/ is an excellent freeware utility - it
also creates backups so that you can undo any changes at a later date.

NBGCleaner is a very thorough registry cleaner - but it's trialware. Search
Google for download links.

Once you've cleaned the registry use the NTRegOpt tool from
http://home.t-online.de/home/lars.hederer/erunt/ to defrag any free space
left by the cleaning process.

Martin.
