Additions to favorite folder using Windows XP Home Edition

Can an addition be made to ones favorite folder in Windows
XP Home Edition without physically commanding it to be
done? If so...how?

Some sites add themselves to the Favorites without your permission. Why
this question, are you trying to do something like that??
