speakers are not working

my computer has gone mute.it makes no sound at all.i've
checked the plugs and the volume knob and nothing seems
to work.what can i do to fix the volume?

Go to Classic Control Panel>click on Sound and Audio Devices Icon. Select
Sounds and make sure the Mute Box is
not checked. Also, check the box Place Volume Icon in Taskbar . Click
on Advanced and see if any of the mute
boxes are checked and uncheck. Raise the sliders more than half way.
