problem after installation of upgrades

Machine runs under XP.

I just installed a batch of upgrades from the MicroSoft
site. Now, when the machine comes up after a start, it is
viewing the file dxdllreg.exe in Quick View Plus! Nothing
unusual shows in the staartup menu or in the list in msconfig.

Where is this coming from and what do I do?

The same exact thing happened on my other maching running
WindowsME.
