I'm using Windows Messenger and two people I communicate with use MSN
Messenger. Neither of them can have a video or voice connection with me. I
send them the request - they accept - not sound or video start and after a
few moments a message appears saying the voice/video conversation has ended.

Is there a way to make this work between these two?

Many thanks.

Greetings,

They actually will work and are backward compatible, however the protocol used in Windows
Messenger is fairly unsophisticated compared to what's used in MSN Messenger and requires a
direct connection (Universal Plug and Play is required if any NAT is involved).

Is there a reason why you don't just install MSN Messenger (or Windows Live Messenger) for
these uses? The udio/video qualify is far superior to what's available in Windows Messenger.

Other info that may be relevant here but first, many thanks for responding.

I have a .Net Passport and attached to this is a Hotmail address being used
for Messenger.

About MSN Messenger - when I click on this on the MS website it takes me to
Windows Live Messenger. I tried Live Messenger as well and though we could
hear the other side they could not hear nor see us. Further, when I tried to
start a conversation or video - error said the other end did not support
these.

I am running NAT on my router.

If MSN Messenger is better how would I get that downloaded?

Don't quite get what you mean with Universal Plug and Play required with NAT.

Thanks again
