View Full Version : Scheduled Backups Don't Run

I've been running XP Pro for a long time, and have been
performing backup to an external hard drive nightly for
the last year or so. I've been using Stomp's BackUpMyPC.

A few weeks ago it just stopped. The backup job is
scheduled, but it never executes. Log files are blank.
I have also tried using the Windows backup with the same
result. I have two PCs running XP Pro in my office, and
niether on will backup. I also have two customers with
the same problem.

I haven't been able to find anything in the KB about
this. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

In the UI, what is the status of the task. Usually logfile is not blank for
task scheduler ?
Are you sure you are at the correct file ? Just go to control panel ->
Scheduled tasks
-> Click on advanced and view log. Then search for the task you have
created.

Note the file is in circular mode. So most recent one can be present
somewhere in the middle.

In the control panel it shows the process for backup as
running. While set for "daily at 11:00pm" its last run
date was 8/11, scheduled to run next at 11:00pm tonight.
Last result 0x1f.

The log file shows to entries. One was a manual run, the
other was an attemt to run on 8/10 - it had two lines
about not being able to find the "backup.bks" file.
However, it's there with a create date of 8/9.

Very odd.
