I just purchased a new Dell 2400. When I run Windows
Update it says I have about 38 updates to download. Dell
tells me NOT to download them since the computer came
with everything needed. YIKES Who do I trust? Dell or
Microsoft?? If Dell How can I tell when something new
comes in that is important??

Kathy, No PC you buy is just ready to go. If you do not have "Service Pack
1" and it is listed in Windows Updates...start with that update. After go
back and do the updates for Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. After
that go back and do all the criticals. On the recommended updates you will
have to update what you need. You do need these updates and Dell is not
correct in telling you you do not need them. Cheers and good luck with your
new pc! mark
