Moviemaker 2.1 automatically clips the .avi movies I import into it, which I
guess it is supposed to do, but when I paste more than 8 clips onto the story
board in automatically closes, no dialogues, error messages or anything. If
anyone else had this problem PLEASE help me! it gets really annoying.

What does the Event Viewer say about the error... (Control Panel, Admin

It doesn't say anything about movie maker specifically under application or
system. I tried re-installing my codecs, and that didn't work either.

I don't know why your program is crashing but
read the following article for some ideas:
Movie Maker 2 Crashes and Hangs

If you do not want MM to create clips...uncheck
"Create clips for video files" on your import file
screen.

I am having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM... only Iam using MM 5.1 (or at least,
that's what it says... along with the 2.1 build)!! But I can get up to SIX
video clips, and it just... DISAPPEARS ALTOGETHER, is if it was NEVER
running!!! No warning, no error message... NOTHING!! Also, none of my other
video etiting software (Ashampoo Burning Studio 7, Nero Essentials 7, AVS
VideoEditor) work anymore either! They either freeze while I am adding video
files, or lock up my computer while attempting to burn a DVD. I also have
something called Windows Essentials Codec Pack installed... don't ask me why!
This is what I am running under the hood:
HP Pavilion 763
Intel P-4 @2.53GHz
1GB RAM
GeoForce FX 5200 Card
160GB HD
2 External HD's = 1 TB
So... what gives?????
