Windows Explorer keeps crashing on me each time I use it. When I go to the
"thumbnail" view, the images are distorted. As a result, I can't copy to CD
or view the contents of a file. I did a "repair install" but I still have
the problem. I've also installed all of the updates/patches that MS has
issued, as well as done a scan for viruses (even though Norton is running
all the time). I suspect the problem originated from one of the MS updates.
When I tried to use MS Online Support I got the message, "The Product ID
Number you entered has already used the maximum number of support incidents
available for this product." I've never issued a support request for this
computer or with this product (WinXP) so how is this possible???
Also, what is SVCHOST.EXE, and what does it do? Using
TaskMgr, I see that it sometimes is using up to 85% CPU.

Thanx!
