Does the Windows XP messsenger allow you to chat with different messenging

If so, what services can I chat with with Windows XP Messenger

The messenger built into Windows XP will allow you to chat with MSN Messenger
7.5 users and Windows Live Messenger users. (All Microsoft products)

Windows Live Messenger allows cross-platform chatting with users who have
the latest beta build of Yahoo Messenger with voice.

Greetings,

The Windows Messenger version that comes with Windows XP will only connect to the .NET
Messenger network (although the original version that comes with older Windows XP versions
did actually connect to corporate networks, but this was removed and is available separately
in a 5.1 version now).

Just to clarify, the .NET Messenger network is what MSN Messenger (and Windows Live
Messenger) use.
