View Full Version : svchost.exe & tasklist

I've read so many posts and articles from various websites
about this svchost.exe taking up 100% of the cpu usage,
and every single time the suggestion has been to open up
the command line and type "Tasklist /SVC".
I have the svchost.exe problem, but, whenever I attempt to
run this "tasklist" thing, it gives me this error reading:
"'tasklist' is not recognized as an internal or external
command, operable program or batch file."
I assume this means that whatever "tasklist" is, it isn't
on my computer.
So, how do I remedy the situation?

Did you goto Start>>Run>>And Type "Tasklist /SVC" (No Quotes)?

I have the identical problem as the original poster here.
The exe file tasklist.exe is not on my XP Home system. I
can't find it on the XP Home installation CD. I don't
know where to go to get a copy of this program. Any
advice would be greatly appreciated.
