View Full Version : XP Pro (with SP1) hangs at "Saving Your Settings"

I have a new computer which has Service Pack 1 integrated
into WinXP Pro. When I try to restart or shutdown, the
computer seems to stop responding at the "Saving Your
Settings" screen. I have left it for 10 minutes and it
has not changed, so I'm guessing it's not just going
really slowly.
I know there's a patch for this problem (Q307247) but
this was apparently part of SP1 which means I already
have it, and I can't find it on the Microsoft site anyway
because I just get redirected to Windows Update, which
doesn't list the patch as one that I need.
Is there any other reason for this to happen?
