Error 1722 Problem With Windows Installer Package

I'm trying to remove Mcafee from Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs and I'm getting this error
message. I'm using Windows Home Edition of XP.
Any fixes would be greatly appreciated.

The "Windows Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed" Error Message appears
When You Add or Remove Program

Error 1719 but may assist you with Error 1722.
