Disk Defragmenter question

I ran the Disk Defragmenter and in the last 2 weeks I went
from having 83% free space to now having 38% free space
but I did not download anything or add anything to my pc.
I don't know what happened. When analyzing the
defragmenter there is about 50% of bright red area that
was not there before, denoting fragmented files. However,
after running the defragmenter, nothing happens and I
still have 38% free space. Does anyone know what I can do
to get the defragmenter, or something else, to
release/erase the locked up files so I have the 83% free
space back? Thanks for your help!

Joannie, Click on MyComputer rt click on Drive Icon select
Properties>Disk Cleanup>More Options>System Restore
Cleanup. Say Yes to all. Also, try System Mechanic. It's free for 30
days. www.iolo.com It will clean your hard
drive of old files and also clean the registry.
