Hi -

The hotfix listed in KB821557 and installed by Windows
Update leaves a temporary folder on my machine that
apparently cannot be deleted. If I try to delete

c:\b58dc242fdcf1b75bc7469ffd3ac\sp2\update.exe

I get a dialog box saying access is denied because either
I don't have rights or the file is in use. Task Manager
doesn't show the file in use and "tasklist /svc" doesn't
either.

I've tried booting in safe mode and safe mode with
command prompt to remove the file but no joy.

I think it's important to note this is a dual processor
machine as the problems are a lot like the issue
described in

KB817084: Installation of Hotfix Leaves Temporary Folder
on Hyper-Threaded or Multiprocessor Computer

or

KB816981: Installation of KB 323255 Hotfix May Leave
Temporary Folder

except the folder cannot be deleted.

Help!

thanks -

Thank you, Rich - I got the problem fixed last night.

The problem was a rights issue - apparently nobody had
Full Control on the file, not even the system account. I
took ownership of the file and managed to delete it.

Thanks for taking the time, Rich. I really appreciate it.
