windows update is not updating

Since last week I am unable to update windows, page loads
but remains static. First advice I received was blaster
worm penetration, for which I have a patch and checked
with Symantec tool and nothing was found. I have latest
definitions for NAV. I had received few e-mails with .pif
attachment which I never opened and deleted also checked
for sobig virus and nothing found. So can some one help
me on this? Checked the registry and no changes have been
made. But I learn that blaster virus results in denial of
service of windows update which is what my problem is.

A couple of profound statements made by yourself:

How did you know that the Registry hadn't been changed?
MSBlaster is not a DOS attack on WU - who told you that?

Have a look in the Windows Update.log file - which can be found in the =
%systemroot% folder - for any error numbers. Make a note of those =
numbers and then see if any of them are referenced here:
