Hello,

On a related note, I installed several "hotfixes" from Windows Update. As
is normal, there are now numerous "$NtUninstallKBxxxxx$" folders in my
C:\Windows directory. I'd love to know what happens to these folders and
hotfixes when we apply the next Service Pack (i.e; SP-2). I assume the next
Service Pack has the updated files as well, but will it leave these
(numerous) strange folder names lying around, or remove them during the
update as the name of the folder would imply?

With Windows 2000, I had many of them just lying around seemingly useless
and annoying. Is there more information about these folders and how
"hotfixes" are handled on the web. In past experiences, the entries for
these fixes still remained in "Add/Remove Programs" even after the next
Service Pack was applied. Any information?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve ,

Due to the nature of requiring to allow you to uninstall the SP2 we will
probably have to retain all of the uninstall folders for all the previous
hotfixes (by default) as you need to be able to remove SP2 and then remove
the other hotfixes if you choose to.
Obviously you can remove the uninstall data at any time you wish as long as
you understand that this will then prevent you uninstalling the hotfix etc.
