Hi Jay,
Control Panel/Sounds and Audio/Sounds tab, in the lower section look at
Program Events. Scroll down the list to Windows Explorer, find "start
navigation". Either change the sound to none or another of your choice.

Control Panel> Sounds and Audio Devices> Sounds> Program Events
or if using XP view: Control Panel> Sounds, Speech and Audio
Devices>Pick a Control Panel icon> Sounds and Audio Devices> Sounds>
Program Events
Scroll down to the Windows Explorer category and change the selected
sound for "Start Navigation" to NONE.

not a stupid question I had wanted to do that for a while
now and by reading your post I found out how. The only
stupid question is the one that does not get asked.
