View Full Version : Data Error (CRC)

August 6th 06, 10:28 AM
Folks:

Trying to copy a 1Gig file from DVD to hard disk using Windows Explorer.
The process starts and runs for 4 minutes (half way there) then shows the
following error message:

************************************************** **********
Cannot Copy <Filename> Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)
************************************************** **********

Next, I tried to force the copy by using Xcopy /V /C. These 2 switches
Verify & Continue the copying process.
Again the copying failed.

* Is there some other command/technique that would allow me to copy this
1G file from DVD to hardDrive ?

I can see & hear the content of this file very well but cannot copy this 1
file. Similar files on the same DVD have been copied.
Also, this is NOT a movie, etc where someone would want to use antiCopying
strategies.

Thanks,
Jo.

Is this a commercial DVD or one you made?

There are two possibilities, 1, it's a dad file and 2 it has been protected
so you can't copy the DVD.
