I havn't been able to open any email attachments because
Outlook Express has blocked them all (?over-rigorous).
I found a section that said you have to get into the
registry and modify it!! But this might cause all sorts
of problems if you don't know what you're doing and
microsoft take no responsibility. Is there a simpler way
to allow these attachments,or do I have to get an expert
in again! Isn't XP supposed to be user friendly? Something
as everyday as attachments! And everyone-else (who I know)
is doing the wrong thing somehow by sending them to me!

Hi
With OE open - go to Tools>Options>Security - and then uncheck 'Do not =
allow attachments to be saved...'. Re-start OE.

This makes my blood boil. Please don't condemn the software because you are
incapable of reading the instructions or using the Help facility.

Greetings --
Outlook Express' default security settings are simply trying to
protect you. OE has no way of telling whether an attachment actually
contains a virus or not, so it temporarily blocks any of those file
types that could potentially contain a virus. In Outlook Express,
Tools > Options > Security, uncheck the "Do not allow attachments to
be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" option, assuming
you trust the source, of course. The wiser course of action, however,
would be to modify your list of unsafe files, as outlined in the KB
articles below:
