watching DVD's from PC to TV

I am trying to use my PC to watch a DVD, but use my TV as a monitor. My PC
has an S-video connection, but I can't get anything to show up on the tv. The
PC plays the DVD just fine, just no output to the TV. Can anyone help?

Either lower the acceleration settings of the graphics card to zero,

Assign the tv as the primary monitor

S-video is only video, so you'll also need an audio cable.
