This is a 2nd try to get help on my problem of 8/12/2006:
Windows Media Player does not render MMS streams. Why?
The Error message of WMP is:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is located on the
Internet, connect to the Internet. If the file is located on a removable
storage card, insert the storage card.
This is nonsense, becaus eI can download and render the file with a program
called SDP Multimedia.
An example file is: mms://stream4.orf.at/news/spain_fires.wmv
Why can the Windows Media Player not render this file?

I think I responded before...
In Windows Media Player, under Tools, Options... Network... what are your
streaming protocols set to?

The following protocols are enabled:
- Multicast
- UDP
- TCP
- HTTP
-use ports 7000-7007 to receive data
No proxy is set for HTTP, MMS and RTSP.

I have just got it working.
Under Options - Player - Player Settings: I had to enable "Connect to the
Internet".

I have mine set to
Checkmark in
Multicast
UDP
TCP
HTTP
and for the settings...
HTTP Browser
MMS AutoDetect
RTSP AutoDetect
See if that makes any difference.
