View Full Version : System32 folder opens on startup

Whenever I log on, the System32 folder opens. There is no shortcut to it in
the Startup folder, it doesn't appear in the startup list in msconfig, and
it is not listed in the registry at
HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run . A spyware scan finds
nothing and other users of this computer don't have this problem when they
log on, just me.

An ideas how to stop it from opening up?

Thanks

The folder itself doesn't have to be in the Run key.
If it is only one user, look in the HKCU hive.

Thanks, it worked. I'll check the support pages next time before coming
here.

Hi,

That article is rarely the problem, more likely to be a damaged registry
entry in a run key.

if you read the article, you would have noticed that it discusses a damaged
registry entry in a run key

Sorry, I mistook that article for 177510, which is often referred to for
this problem but rarely applies. Formerly this article did not contain the
correct information but mirrored the other, I'm glad to see it's been
updated.
