Thanks, that isn't the problem though. I mean the one
where usually there is a small button across the bottom
of the taskbar that identifies each window you open so
you can switch back and forth between programs.

There is an Issue with the Windows XP Taskbar, which I have described in
some detail in a Report to Microsoft - but they seem to have something
better to worry about.

I had to:
Use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to save my settings to HDD
Create a NEW USER for myself (Admin)
Log in as the NEW USER
Use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to restore my settings
Check the NEW USER Taskbar - Icons were ok.
Delete my OLD USER account!

Hope this helps,

Please ignore my previous message.

There is an Issue with the Windows XP Taskbar that sees it "lose" the
Program Icons.

Go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm .

You will see a page with 2 Columns and Line Numbers at the Left.

On Line 240 in the Left Column, you will see "Programs Aren't Minimised in
the Taskbar".

Click these words to download (and save to your HDD) "xp_taskbarnomin.vbs".

Locate this script on your HDD, and double-click to execute it.

(If your Security/AntiVirus Software issues a warning, allow the Script to
execute.)

Hope this helps,
