Can't shut down computer-Help

For the past two days I have been unable to shut down the computer. A
message pops up after I try to close stating that McAfee is installing. In
the lower right hand corner there is a flashing yellow downwards arrow. I
tried to remove the application but was told I can't as it is running.

Go into Safe Mode and uninstall your McAfee software. Do this by repeatedly
tapping the F8 key as the computer is starting up. This will get you to the
right menu. Navigate using your Up arrow key; the mouse will not work here.

If you have a recent version that has different components - antivirus,
anti-spam, firewall, security console - then uninstall all the components
before you uninstall the security console.

If the machine is clean, then you can try reinstalling your McAfee software
if you still want it, or install a different and less invasive antivirus
like Kaspersky, NOD32, Avast, AVG, F-Prot.
