Good day,

I have a serious problem in that I believe my User Profile has become
corrupted*, but when I attempted to locate the folders (see tip from
Kelly's Corner below) in order to copy them to a new user profile, the
folder appears empty and I am unable to open it.

Please note that I am able to successfully log on to my Admin account,
as well as create new admin users. From both Administrator and [New
User Profile] I can navigate to the C:\Documents and
Settings\[Previous User Profile], but there are no files in it,
(properties) and I can neither open nor copy it.

>Create a new account/administrator profile and log in. Then go to C:\Documents and Settings\[Previous User Profile] and copy all folders to: C:\Documents and Settings\[New User Profile]. Then reboot.

*my computer-happy son used (without my knowledge or approval) a
program called "MyStart.exe" as well as another method to change
Explorer in order to make registry changes to the Start button and
Recycle names. After a few successful log-ons, the Corrupted Local
Profile error message came up.

I have read about recovering a registry hive, but at this point I
would rather wait until I have some clear guidance before doing
anything that would jeopardize my documents and files. I have most
backed up, but not the file structure nor many from this past month.

Please help me with this...

Gratefully, Jeanne
