I posted this to 24hr help group with no takers. I'll print all 3 post to
try and help you to understand what I'm looking for:

___________________________First Post________________________

Is it possible to have a PC with XP that can only be accessed with a "one
time" password,......but wait........it also has many more (loaded) in it so
it can be accessed again without someone physically going to the PC to reset
it?

Example:

You have a business that dispatches from a central location, you don't want
others (in other locations) to watch & question these dispatches...yes, I
know, tell them never to access the pc unless told.......but if your
computer goes down, they might be able to access this important information
& dispatch from there. When the problem is over, they shut down, the
password is no longer good.

I did a search & found something that involved "programming", I really would
like a ready made simple program to help on this issue.

If I didn't explain it properly, please ask for details.

Thanks...DE

Sorry, let's see...

I have a computer in my cabin in the mountains. The electrician arrives with
the key I gave him, he goes in and realizes I forgot to leave blueprints of
the place, he calls me. I ask him if he can operate a computer, Yes, he
says....I tell him to log on with XXXYYYXXX password. He does, gets the
blueprints & shuts the computer off, does his work & goes home.

That password was a one-time deal, it cannot be used again when the operator
logs off.

Next day the Plummer arrives, he wonders if I have any pictures of the place
before it was dry-walled. I give him a new Password from my "pool" of
passwords for one-time use...he logs on, gets the pictures & then logs
off...NO ONE can use the computer even if they put in the last 2 passwords,
only when I give someone a new password.

DE

_____________________________LAST POST__________________________

No, no.....

Limited access doesn't matter, I only want to give access to the operator
"ONE TIME" I don't care what their privileges are!

Let's see another example:

I own a company, one of my computers is in New York, one in Chicago & one in
Sheboygan.

I operate my computer in New York to tell everyone what to do for the day
(it is linked via internet/domain to the other computers for this schedule),
Everyone at the other locations knows that the "X" computer is to only be
used for emergencies (they can't log on anyways because they don't have the
password).

I get sick & can't come to work (just for the day) so I call Sheboygan &
tell Jimmy the password to get on the computer with orders to tell the other
offices what their jobs are for the day, then he is to shut down the
computer....AND can not log on again because the password is "ONE TIME"!!!

I come to work the next day & assume my duties. IF I become sick or can't
come to work, I call someone at one of the branches & give them the password
that will only last till they log off!

I can't be the only person on earth that needs something like this, am I?

Thanks,

DE

THANKS......in advance!

Seems that there is some hole in your logic ... or you didn't explain fully.

If the user gets to use the ONE TIME password, and you cannot get into work
.... how is anyone to get a new ONE TIME password from you ... if you haven't
been in to work?

If the ONE TIME password is automatically generated ... how do you get a
record of it on a day-to-day basis ... so that if you can't make it to work
.... you at least have that day's ONE TIME password?

This is unbelievable, everybody in to the story rather then the answer......

I either phone it to him from home or have contingence plans at work for
someone else to.

NO,.........It's not automatically generated, we have a "bank" of
them...like 200 of them....like.......XRTRT$%^ & HUY657$3 &
GTRUYTR^^.......

We fill the computer up with a "reserve" of one time #'s

Do you have a burgular alarm? Most owners can give a friend a "ONE TIME
PASSWORD NUMBER", the friend comes over (or whoever), has the one time
password, uses it, gets in. BAM.....that's it, can not be used any more!!!

I suppose you might create an account and set it's password expiry
time to 1 day with a "Minimum Password Age Group Policy" rule or
maybe a "User must change password on 1st login" type of setup. I
understand your intended use - Just one of those 'visualize the end of
the Universe' type problems. Not sure that Windows has a provision
for a "Single Use" login.
