View Full Version : NTBackup issue

Have a dual boot system with Win98SE and Win XP Pro (SP2 added and all
MS Updates)

When I try to use the BAckUp in XP Pro, my system immediately crashes(BSOD)
with the "Bad_Pool_Header" message.

Any suggestions?
Can I reinstall NTBACKUP somehow, I have WIN XP Pro disk and NTBACKUP.MSI in
not in the Addedvalue folder?

Thanks in advance?

Hi,

Bad_pool_header is a driver issue. There may be a driver issue with the
default device being accessed by the program.

Make sure the system is set to see hidden and system files to see the .msi
file in the \valueadd folder.

Hello,

No NTBackup.msi. Was able to find a stand alone and installed the program to
no avail/

What/how do I go about checking out the driver issue?

Thanks,

BL

Hi,

Start by updating or at least reinstalling the driver for the device being
accessed by the backup program. This is best done from the properties of the
device in device manager (control panel/system/hardware tab).

I looked in device manager and can not find any reference about which device
driver would be accessing NTBACKUP. How can I see which device driver is
using NTBACKUP?

Thanks,

the quick fix is go to c:\windows\system32\ntmsdata and remane folder. then
go to abacup you made and restore the ntmsdata folder. you can rebuild the
folder by unplugging all devices usb like harddrives ,dvd, etc then go to
device manager and uninstall all devices you can backup to . do c drive
last and reboot. will find and reinstall all internal devices. then plug
in usb units and ntmsdata should be rebuilt. run...ntbackup and should
come up and see all devices.

Generally these are tape, floppy, or hard drives - it doesn't support direct
to optical writing without a UDF (packet writer) software installed. If you
do have this, it may very will be the problem.

ISSUE RESOLVED!
I have a 4 port USB port attached to the PC. I disconnected the port and the
NTBACKUP worked as it should.
I then turned off the PC and reconnected the USB port but unplugged my
Camera Card Reader since that was the item pointed out as a possible
conflict when I originally set up the dual boot.

With the card reader unplugged all works without issue.

Thanks again for your communications.

As a final note, it was definitely a driver issue. Went to the Fujifilm site
and downloaded and installed the new driver(s) for the card reader and I can
now leave the Cardreader attached and use NTBACKUP with everything
attached.
