View Full Version : Can't Access Web Sites Via Family Accounts

I've set up four accounts on XP: Mine (as the admin), wife's, son's,
daughter's.

I can reach all web sites on my account and my wife's, but not on son's or
daughters. Specifically, pollypocket.com and disney.com just open to a blank
page with no error message when access is attempted from son's or daughter's
account.

Each site seems to be running an animation (Flash?) I don't recall being
that selective in blocking access via the kids' accounts.

I've tried adding each site to the Trusted Sites under Intnernet Options in
IE, and the problem persists. I've exhausted every keyword option I can think
of and can't find a similar issue here or via Google.

Any advice appreciated. TIA.

Hi,

I think it could be possible, that the Flash OCX need a installation for
each user. If your wife and you have admin right on that machine and your
kids not, this should be the problem. But I dont know how to fix it now?!

Cheers,

Chris

Christoph:

Thanks, but I am sure I am the only one with admin rights on the machine.

Perhaps I installed Flash OCX, or enabled it, for my wife's account but not
for the kids, but I can't remember and can't find a way to get to a control
that will allow me to change settings on any user accounts.

I actually tried to download the latest Flash version using each kid's
account and could not do it. Those accounts are locked tight as I would like
them to be but I can't recall how to change their settings as the admin.
Control Panel only allows me to change the name, create a password, change
the picture, change the account type or delete the account; selecting "change
the account type" only allows me to choose between Limited (which I want them
to have) or Computer Administrator (which I absolutely do not want anyone
else to have.)

I seem to recall a way to further define the parameters of Limited accounts
on a user-by-user or global basis, but I've searched and searched and can not
find this information anywhere.
