What could I have done to cause the Microsoft Outlook icon to suddenly show
up on my desktop? May it be deleted, without adverse consequence? As far as
I know, I never have used it. I use Outlook Express for all e-mail and
newsgroup work. TIA, JohnH

If you just installed, or repaired, MS Office then the Outlook Icon was added to your desktop.
If you don't use Outlook, just delete it. It will not harm your computer.

Install "TweakUI" in order to remove the desktop icon.

Richard,
Yes, I had just repaired MS Office. I will delete the Outlook icon.
Thank you, JohnH

When you run Detect and Repair there is an option to: Restore my shortcuts
while repairing

Restores the program shortcuts to the Windows Start menu. Clear this check
box if you do not want to restore program shortcuts.
