I have checked the HCL and as far as I can tell all my
software and hardware will work with XP after an update. I
have had XP on this computer before, it required me to
swap out my video card for the basic install.

Now all I get is the error message 0x4,0,0,0 or my
computer shuts down

I don't know. Just seems that it's possible the video card might have a
flaw, even though it appears to be good sometimes. Whatever ... it's
probably a hardware flaw (video, RAM, ...).

If you run the compatibility check as I suggested, it may detect something
you have overlooked are perhaps not thought about.
