How to i get my firewall settings to stay set to THIS SETTING BLOCKS OUTSIDE
SOURCES FROM CONNECTING TO THIS COMPUTER? It seems to automatically shut off
when i turn off my computer. When i turn it back on and check Windows
security indicates that the FIREWALL is on however when i check the Windows
FIREWALL settings itself it indicates in the GENERAL TAB, thats its to OFF
AVOID USING THIS SETTING.

Can anyone shed some light on whats happening. Why is the firewall settings
i put (ON: THIS SETTING BLOCKS OUTSIDE SOURCES FROM CONNECTING TO THIS
COMPUTER) is not maintaining its selected setting?

Hello . The first thing you should know is to avoid using Capital letters
only because in forums and newsgroups this is considered <<< SHOUTING >>> and
many people will reject answering it .

Now , about your issue . Windows Security Center is only an informative
center which collect information about your security level . When it shows
that
Firewall ON (in green) this means that there is A firewall , which means
that some kind of firewall protection is enabled . This doesn't exactly mean
that exactly Windows Firewall is on .

Most likely you have another software installed which includes in itself a
firewall protection . Because you have to use only one firewall and only one
av software , this software should be stopping WF to prevent software
conflict and instability .

Now , do you have ZoneAlarm , Norton , McAfee , Kaspersky , Kerio , Outpost
, Comodo , Panda or any other security software that includes some kind of
anti hacker in it . Check in Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs

Also open Control Center and quote the exact message that it is saying ,
which firewall is ON .

If you don't have any other security software with such a protection , your
computer could be infected with a malicious software (virus/spyware...) so
you'll need to check and remove . Use the instructions here:

You could have a problem if you have another software firewall installed on
your computer as you must only use one. Also if you are using cable/DSL for
your internet connection I HIGHLY recommend that you use at least an
internet router to protect your network as the first line of defense as it
is not unusual for a user to experience problems with software/host
firewalls that can put your computer at great risk.
