STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum} Error

When starting my computer, the Windows XP logo appears,
then the computer hangs and I get the following error
message on the blue screen:

STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum}
The image appHelp.dll is possibly corrupt. The header
checksum does not match the computed checksum.

Any suggestions on how to fix? I'd rather not re-install
XP and lose everything on my hard drive.
