installation starts and everything is groovy and then the
installation copies files over to the hard drive and right
when (i think?) it is going into its next stage the screen
pauses and all activites cease. This has happened to me in
other cases before. what am i doing wrong?

Hi, Chris.
HOW are you doing the install? Are you booting from the WinXP CD-ROM? How
long have you waited when Setup seems to have stopped? Minutes? Hours?
Sometimes it takes a long time to search for drivers; sometimes a simple
restart will allow it to continue, rather than beginning again at the
beginning of Setup.
How many HDs do you have, and how are they connected to your computer?
Typical IDE on the mainboard? Or are you booting from SCSI or RAID or some
other more sophisticated controller? If so, you may need to press F6 when
invited and install WinXP drivers for that controller from a floppy
diskette.
