network connections

my computer says my local area connection 2 is
disconnected, but I checked in the device manager and
it's saying that my realtek ril8139 family pci fast
ethernet nic (modem) is working properly. when i use the
troubleshooter, it says is not enabled. please help me.

Did you check all your cables. Is the driver installed for the Nic. Take
a look in IE>Tools>Internet Options. Click on
the Connections Tab and go thru the Setup.
