unable to install updates

im having problems installing updates on my pc. it is trying to install 1 of
14 updates, and it just hangs and never completes the installation. this is
what it says:

Initializing installation... done!
Installing 329170: Security Update (update 1 of 14)...

im assuming that i got a bad file from the update site and it wont update
me. i am unable to delete the installation files that are associated with
the updates.

i tried to download the administrator installation pack for sp2, that
wouldn't go either. i also tried to install the updates in safe mode, with
no success.

please help!!!

You need to turn off any Anti-Virus Background Scanning as well as
disabling any Spyware Scans occurring in the background, when you are
updating Windows or installing any Software program.
