This is regards to a problem I found on my laptop running
Windows XP Professional Edition. The problem is that I
can't boot up the computer due to a corrupt Windows file.

Recently I Installed the trial version of Macromedia
Studio MX. When I came to reboot the computer it wanted
to do a disk check and know when I boot and re-boot the
machine I get the following message on a blue background
and it won't let me go any further;

STOP: c0000221 {Bad image checksum}
The image url.dll is possibly corrupt. The header
checksum does not match the co
mputed checksum.

I would be very gratefull if anyone could tell me how to
correct this problem.

Cheers,
Richard Harris

To resolve this problem, you must replace the missing or corrupted url.dll
file. To do so, follow these steps:

Start your computer with the Windows XP CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.

You are prompted with the following option:

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R

When you are prompted with this option, press R to select it.

At the command prompt, type the following commands (press ENTER after each
command):

cd \windows\system32\drivers
ren url.dll url.old

Note This step renames the corrupted url.dll file to url.old. If the url.dll
file is not found, then the file was missing.

At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

copy cd:\i386\url.dll drive:\windows\system32\drivers

Where cd is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive that contains the Windows
XP CD, and drive is the drive that you installed Windows XP to.

Remove the Windows XP CD from your CD-ROM drive, type quit, and then press
ENTER to quit the Recovery Console.

Restart Windows XP
