I am running XP Pro w/sp1. My computer spontaneously
reboots several times a day - not at the start of a
specific program or hardware. I thought that it might be
because my motherboard was old and my cpu couldn't keep
up with the load, so I installed a new motherboard and
AMD Athalon 2400+ cpu - it runs really fast and performs
well, but still reboots for no reason. I have no
conflicts showing; no driver problems that I can find; no
harware problems showing...
Help, Please!!!!
Thanx, Carol Ann

Go to http://securityresponse.symantec.com/ and run the Free Online Virus
and Security Check under Virus Definitions.
There are free removal tools on that page if a virus or worm is found.

Thanks for your response. I went to Symantic and tried
to run the scan and was told it couldn't run because it
requires EI 5 or higher with ActiveX enabled - I'm
running 6.0288 with ActiveX enabled! I also have tried
to run Panda's free online scanner and have had trouble
with that one as well. I run a virus scanner that is up-
to-date, never download any mail until check with mail
washer, and ZoneAlarm Pro 3. I test stealth in Symantic
and other tests as far as ports and internet
protection...that is not to say I haven't picked
something up along the way.

Sounds like you may have a software or driver compatibility problem.
Go to the following site for instructions to set Windows to give you the
Blue Screen of Death when a problem occurs instead of rebooting so you can
zero in on the cause:
