Notification Area missing the sliding icon

i had to do a reinstall of my c drive and now in the
notification area the sliding icon is missing. i tried
checking and unchecking the Hide Inactive Icon button and
no go then i also tried another reinstall and that didn't
fix it either, any ideas ? Thanks !

On the screen where you check and uncheck the Hide inactive icons click
Customize and be sure the behavior of each icon is Hide when inactive.

they are all checked hide. the part that's missing is the
little double arrow that points left that slides when
hiding/unhiding icons
