View Full Version : Install messenger insufficient privileges error

Trying to install MSN Messenger 7.5 on my Windows XP Media Ed, I'm
getting errors that it can't access a file in C:\Docs...\Liam\Local
Settings\Temp\(filename) due to insufficient privileges. Ending in a
1303 error.

If the proper fix or workaround is to indeed change the permissions of
a folder, howso? I looked at the folder properties, and there's options
to encrypt and compress, but no permission changing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. =)

well first of all, why are you installing an out of date IM when there
is the new live messanger by MSN, and are your user setting set to
administrator?

Yeah, I have admin privileges, but it doesn't matter.
8 installed OK. I didn't know it was old. I'd gone to MS's "favorite
downloads" page and found it. Thought that've been the latest.

Thanks for the clue-by-four. :)
