I finally solved it with your help.

I saw your new post in a different NG so I now know that you are using XP
pro.

"I just now created a .bkf file of my C drive. Went to the "restore and
manage media" tab. Then I clicked the + sign in front of file, clicked the
+ sign in front of the created file, placed a checkmark in the box for the C
drive,"

So far so good. But for the next step, I clicked on the letter "C" and
that opened up the tree.
Thanks for your terrific assistance.
CMA

clicked the + sign and the tree appeared in the left and right panes. There
were checkmarks already placed in front of all items, meaning all would be
replaced, the marks would need to be removed from the items not requiring
replacement. I cleared that checkmark and checked the 2nd C and no items
were checked.

What items are you really trying to backup that might need replacement using
this method? There may be better programs available to obtain the desired
results.
