Windows XP Service Pack 1

Tried to install the Windows XP Service Pack 1. This is a
critical update. All the files download and then it goes
through an install process. It then sits and comes back
with a message that states 'Access Error'. Then it
unloads everything and goes back to the original version.
Any help on what this is and how to fix?

Try disabling any antivirus program and fire wall before installing. Don't
forget to reenable these tools after upgrade.
